[Student Feedback]
After each Artist in Education implementation, I ask students to complete evaluation forms, outlining what they learned and including anything they'd like me to know. Below is a sample of their responses, just as they wrote them.

For examples of work my students have produced, please visit the Student Gallery.

"It made me think about what is important to me. I thought more about the stuff I have that was my mom's and it seems more important now."
-- grade 9 student, The Linden School
"I enjoyed it. It made me think of stuff that you don't normally think of everyday."
-- grade 9 student, The Linden School
I learned "that no matter what you feel, art can express it, trivialize it, or go around it".
-- grade 9 participant, The Linden School
I enjoyed this project "because it gave the opportunity to express myself. I enjoyed finding spontaneous things to add to my collage. I enjoyed, also, working with color photocopies and improvising solutions to artistic problems that developed".
-- grade 10 participant, Oakwood Collegiate
"The collage project 'gave me a chance to unleash all my creativity into a piece of art work which can be expressed in a unique way. I got to combine the passions of creativeness into one work of art. Fashion and drawing are rarely put together and this was a great way to put it together.' "
-- grade 10 participant, Oakwood Collegiate
"It was a great experience, a good idea and a pleasure to have an actual artist work with us, to share her wisdom and points of view about our art works and themes."
-- grade 10 participant, Oakwood Collegiate
"The reason why I enjoyed the collage project was because I was able to express my feelings towards certain topics which mean something to me. It was a lot of fun using images of my own to express the way I feel."
-- grade 10 participant, Oakwood Collegiate

"I used to think that I can't do a good work on my own in art but this project gave me confidence and proved that I can do a good job! Thank you Kathleen for that!"
-- grade 9 participant, North Albion Collegiate Institute
I enjoyed this project "because there wasn't no rules we had to follow. We got to do what we wanted. It gave us a chance to express ourself through art".
-- grade 11 participant, North Albion Collegiate Institute
I learned that "art is what I make it."
-- grade 11 participant, North Albion Collegiate Institute
"Please come again, Kathleen."
-- grade 8 participant, St. Bernadette School
"The project gave me a chance to work with someone professional. It allowed me to see how good of an artist I really am."
-- grade 8 participant, St. Bernadette School
"This project showed me how much I really care for my family and close friends. This taught me to control the colours and not to put paint everywhere I want to, and leave a space for the eye to rest."
-- grade 8 participant, St. Bernadette School
"It was fun working with our hands and getting a little dirty. It's a change from all that Art History."
-- grade 10 participant, Ursula Franklin Academy
"I liked working with different media. I also really liked the fact that Kathleen let us be as creative as we wanted and was supportive & helpful."
-- grade 10 participant, Ursula Franklin Academy

"I learned if you put effort in to it you can do anything. I also learned how to mix colours."
-- grade 5 participant, Jefferson Public School
"I learned that in order to make art you have to have a good time, work hard and know that art is created by the mind. I learned that art is about you."
-- grade 4 participant, Jefferson Public School
"I've never really enjoyed art before but after this amazing experience you gave me and my class mates I really enjoy it. My favourite colour is yellow and my favourite type of art now is collages. I just love the way all different layors of information band together to make a real live picture."
-- grade 5 participant, Jefferson Public School
"I learned that art is not just some pictures. Every piece has some meaning to it."
-- grade 4 participant, Jefferson Public School
"I learned that art isn't just slopping stuff on a piece of paper but it's really texture and color and it takes a lot of planning."
-- grade 6 participant, Beaches Alternative School
